The American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment 2008 Climate Leadership Summit is a carbon neutral event. WindStreet Energy, an ACUPCC Gold Program Partner, has generously provided Renewable Energy Credits to our carbon footprint.
We are taking further steps to “green” the event by using eco-sensitive printers and papers and reducing the amount of printed materials used for the conference, limiting packaging and use of paper and plastic disposables, offering recycling, reducing linen and towel usage, encouraging the use of green transportation between the airport and hotel, encouraging walking to and from the venues, and providing locally grown, organic foods where possible.
The host hotel, JW Marriott Grand Rapids, is also committed to earth-friendly practices with environmental initiatives that reduce energy and water consumption; promote recycling and on-site processing of glass, aluminum, plastic, oils, light bulbs and batteries; and reduce or eliminate harmful chemicals in building materials, furnishings and cleaning products.
