| 3:30pm - 5:00 pm | Working Sessions: Pedagogical Approaches to Climate Change and Sustainability Higher Education’s greatest contribution to combating climate disruption is to reorient its curriculum to formally prepare students and thus society with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the critical, systemic challenges faced by the world in this new century. By providing this knowledge, higher education will better serve their students, institutions, and local communities, thereby meeting their social mandate to contribute to a thriving, ethical, and civil society. or Town/Gown Synergies: Scaling Up Climate Action through Community Engagement Higher education institutions are both influential role models for society and key milieus for learning and dialogue. By modeling ways to minimize global warming emissions and engaging local communities, colleges and universities can better serve all of their stakeholders, and meet their social mandate to help create a thriving, ethical and civil society. This session will examine examples of this community engagement at work. |
