The Leadership Factor: Implementing Sustainability in Higher Education

August 4, 2010. ACUPCC signatory presidents and chancellors play a critical role in focusing all of the campus - from academic to operational units - to implement a visionary and comprehensive Climate Action Plan which will affect every aspect of their institutions for the foreseeable future. Energy Performance Contracting: Economic and Environmental Benefits at the University of Central Missouri

June 28, 2010. The ACUPCC has partnered with the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) to help increase the number of large-scale energy saving retrofits for campus buildings. Reducing energy used by existing buildings is a cost-effective way to reduce campus carbon footprints and make progress on sustainability goals. CCI’s Energy Efficiency Building Retrofit Program utilizes Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) as one vehicle for implementation of campus retrofits and has worked with educational institutions around the world on large-scale EPC projects.

In this webinar, the University of Central Missouri (UCMO) shares their experience participating in an Energy Performance Contract, the preliminary environmental and economic results of their project, and how they integrated student involvement and learning into the development of the project. You will learn about the project development process, the decision-making process of UCMO leadership, how the project was procured and financed, and the results of the project to date in UCMO’s sustainability goals.

Panelists:
Arah Schuur, Director, CCI Energy Efficiency Building Retrofit Program
Dr. Betty J. Roberts, Vice President, Administration and Finance, University of Central Missouri
Manuel Abarca, Student Sustainability Coordinator, University of Central Missouri
